Unbreakable solar GPS / Telematics System
In close cooperation with the Austrian company DOT Telematik und Systemtechnik GmbH, a2-solar GmbH has developed an extremely robust solar module, which even withstands the most extreme and rigorous requirements of rail and train traffic vehicles and is certified in accordance with the ATEX and IECEx regulations.
Every day thousands of freight wagons, trailers and containers are moved worldwide. The challenge for railways or carriers is to always know: Where is my wagon, trailer or container right now? In the past, it often happened that thousands of freight wagons were simply "lost" - literally "disappeared into nowhere".
As such transport systems usually do not have any "power on board", such a solar-powered GPS tracking system is the ideal solution. However, it must also meet the most extreme requirements in terms of durability and robustness and achieve very demanding certifications. With this new system, all approval hurdles have now been overcome and series production has begun. This series production means several 100,000 units in the next few years.
In addition to position monitoring, this solar telematics system also allows for geofencing, the precise recording of vehicle mileage, load registration and registers important data such as temperature and shocks. Based on these data, valuable analytics and statistics can be made. Thanks to our special solar module, this system is completely maintenance-free and can be used autonomously.
